Choose copper tube by service first: water tube for plumbing, cleaned and capped ACR tube for refrigerant lines, and specially cleaned medical gas tube for hospitals. The UAE uses both European (EN) and American (ASTM) systems, and tube and fittings must come from the same system.

For hot and cold water many UAE consultants now specify PP-R pipes and fittings because they cost less and do not need hot work, so copper tends to appear where the specification asks for metal, in high-end residential and hospitality, and in plant rooms. Pick the joint type first (capillary solder, brazed, press or compression), then the fitting standard that matches the tube system. Mixing EN tube with US fittings, or the reverse, is a common cause of rejected joints.
