Mining, quarrying and minerals in the UAE is mostly hard rock quarrying for aggregates and limestone in Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah, plus the equipment, safety gear, processing plant and industrial minerals that support it. This page covers the five product families, where quarry and mineral buyers sit, the environmental, crusher and explosives rules checked in 2026, and how to choose a supplier from the listings below.

In the UAE this sector is about quarries more than mines. The rock that matters is the gabbro and limestone of the Hajar mountains on the east coast and in the northern emirates, crushed into aggregates for concrete, asphalt and fill and shipped to construction sites across the country and abroad. ListGCC groups the supply side under this sector, which sits alongside other heavy industry hubs and connects to the construction and building materials sector that consumes most of the output.
Buyers are quarry operators and crusher plants, cement and lime producers, ready mix and precast plants, steel plants that buy limestone as flux, glass, ceramics and paint makers that buy industrial minerals, and contractors who run their own crushing spreads on large earthworks. Purchases split into three kinds: capital plant (a crushing and screening line, a fleet of dump trucks), wear parts and consumables bought against part numbers, and raw minerals bought against a specification sheet and a test certificate.
The sector has five family hubs. Each one lists the product types, the approvals that apply in the UAE and the suppliers who serve them.
Quarrying equipment for aggregate production is the family most UAE buyers start with. It covers jaw, cone and impact crushers, vibrating screens and washing plant in fixed stone crushers and screening plants, tracked mobile crushing plants for contract crushing and recycling, aggregate processing equipment such as sand classifiers, and wire saws and diamond tools for dimension stone. Crusher plants in the UAE are judged as much on their dust control as on their throughput, for reasons covered in the approvals section below.
Mining equipment covers the machines that break, load and move rock: surface mining equipment such as rigid haul trucks and large excavators, blasthole and exploration drill rigs, rock breakers, mine conveyors, dewatering pumps and ventilation. In a UAE quarry the fleet looks like a large earthmoving fleet with heavier trucks and more drilling, and much of it is bought through the same dealers that serve construction.
Mining safety equipment protects people at the face, on the haul road and in the plant: gas detection for confined spaces, tunnels and underground workings, mining PPE such as respirators for crusher dust and hearing protection, mine rescue equipment, and proximity detection systems that warn a truck driver of a light vehicle or a person in a blind spot.
Mineral processing equipment turns crushed ore or rock into a saleable product. It includes grinding mills and ball mills used for limestone powder and cement raw meal, flotation cells, gravity separation, magnetic separators, leaching equipment and thickeners and clarifiers that recover process water. In the UAE most processing is size reduction and classification rather than metal recovery, so mills, classifiers and water recovery dominate.
Industrial minerals are sold as raw materials to other industries: ground calcium carbonate for paint, plastics and paper, silica sand for glass, foundry and filtration, gypsum for plaster and cement retarder, barite and bentonite for drilling fluids, kaolin and clay for ceramics, and talc. Much of what UAE plants use is imported or re-exported through the free zones, so grade, moisture and particle size on the certificate of analysis matter more than origin.
Quarry demand in the UAE sits in Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah, where the rock is, while equipment dealers and mineral traders cluster in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, near ports and buyers.
Quarrying in the UAE is regulated mainly at emirate level, with a federal layer on environment, product conformity and explosives. The table summarises the regimes a buyer or quarry operator meets, from sources checked in October 2026. Several of the sources are some years old, so confirm current requirements with the authority before you rely on them.
| Requirement | What it covers | Authority |
|---|---|---|
| Quarry and mineral rights | Licences and concessions to extract rock and minerals in the emirate | Emirate governments, for example FNRC in Fujairah |
| Crusher and quarry operating rules | Planning, operation and execution of works at crusher and quarry establishments (Ministerial Decision No. 567 of 2014) | Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (then Ministry of Environment and Water) |
| Local environmental standards | Dust collection on crushers, filters, water spraying, covered sites, air monitors linked to the regulator | Emirate environment authorities, for example EPDA in Ras Al Khaimah |
| Explosives licence | Possessing, transporting, storing and using explosives, including for quarry blasting (Federal Decree-Law No. 17 of 2019) | Ministry of Interior and the licensing authority named under the decree-law |
| Product conformity | Regulated products such as some electrical equipment, through ECAS and the Emirates Quality Mark | Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) |
| Operator and site permits | Licences for heavy equipment operators and site acceptance by the main contractor | Emirate authorities and the client |
The federal crusher and quarry rules have teeth. In 2018 the environment ministry stopped 14 crusher and quarry operators across several emirates for breaching Ministerial Decision 567 of 2014, with suspensions of one to three months and permanent closure for a third violation. In Ras Al Khaimah, EPDA inspections in 2015 checked that crushers had dust collection, filters and water spraying and that site air monitors fed its control room. For an equipment buyer this means a crusher quote should include the dust suppression and extraction package, not leave it as an option; the industrial dust collection systems hub covers baghouses and cartridge filters.
Blasting is the one activity where the buyer should not improvise. Explosives in the UAE are controlled under Federal Decree-Law No. 17 of 2019 on weapons, ammunition, explosives and hazardous materials, implemented by Ministry of Interior decisions. Quarries normally use a licensed blasting contractor, and the explosives themselves are never bought through a general equipment listing. The guide to ECAS and EQM product conformity explains the MoIAT side for any electrical items in a plant.
Choose by the support behind the product: who holds parts, who sends a technician to a quarry two hours from Dubai, and who can show the plant working in similar rock. Price per tonne of capacity comes after that.
If you would rather have suppliers come to you, post your requirement with the tonnage, rock type and site location, and compare the quotes side by side. The guide to sourcing industrial suppliers in the UAE and Saudi Arabia covers the vetting steps in more detail.
Price and lead time depend mostly on whether the item is stocked in the UAE. Wear parts, screen media and common tyre sizes are often held locally. A new crushing line, a large haul truck or a drill rig is usually built to order abroad, and lead time is set by the factory slot and sea freight to Jebel Ali or Khalifa Port. Off-the-road tyres for large haul trucks have had long waits in some years, so fleet owners hold spares. Commodity minerals follow freight rates and the exporting country's supply. Ask for delivery terms (ex works, CIF Jebel Ali or delivered to site) and for the price validity date before you compare quotes.
Rock type changes running cost more than purchase price. Gabbro from the east coast is hard and abrasive, so liner and screen media consumption on a gabbro crusher is higher than on limestone, and a cheaper crusher with poor liner availability costs more over a year. Ask for expected wear life in comparable rock.
Brands carried in this sector include genuine Cat replacement parts for mining and quarry machines, Techking off-the-road tyres for rigid dump trucks and loaders, Aramine underground loaders and mining spares, Technidrill diamond core bits and wireline core barrels, Hole Products exploration drilling consumables and Varistem blast hole stemming plugs used in quarry blasting. Related equipment sits in the earthmoving equipment hub, which covers the excavators and loaders shared with construction.
