Talc in the UAE is a soft, platy magnesium silicate mineral, ground to powder and sold for plastics compounds, paints, ceramics, rubber, paper and pharmaceutical or cosmetic uses. It is almost entirely imported. This page explains industrial grades, why an asbestos-free certificate matters, what to specify, which rules apply, and what moves price and delivery.
No working quarries or mines were found in Ajman in the sources reviewed, so mining, quarrying and minerals is a thin local sector. The emirate is the UAE's smallest and is almost fully built up, with farming settlements inland at Manama and Masfout. The rock and aggregate industry sits in Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, where crushers and quarries operate in the Hajar foothills. Ajman buyers are customers of that industry rather than producers.
Construction is the largest trade group in Ajman, so the practical demand is for finished aggregates, sand and filler from the north and east, and for stone cutting tools in fabrication shops. Granite and marble workshops buy diamond tools, and contractors who manage fill or reclamation sites occasionally rent crushing and screening plants or mobile crushers from dealers in other emirates. Site crews also buy protective equipment that overlaps with quarry gear, such as dust masks and hard hats.
Crusher sales and rental firms are based mainly in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Sharjah. Industrial minerals such as bentonite, silica sand and gypsum used by paint, plastics and construction chemical makers in Ajman Free Zone arrive through Dubai and Sharjah ports and are stocked by traders. Ajman Free Zone lists chemicals among its larger sectors, with about 128 firms in Oxford Business Group's 2025 report, which is where the mineral fillers get used.
For crushers and screens, ask where the machine last worked and request operating hours, wear part history and the emissions or dust measures expected on your site. Quarrying and crushing are regulated federally and by each emirate, and the UAE has closed non-compliant operators in the past, so only deal with licensed operators. For aggregate, ask for the test report for grading and strength, and confirm delivery by truck from the Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah source. For help finding a supplier, use post a requirement.
Ajman is the smallest emirate, and its industry is compressed into a few districts. Ajman Free Zone sits beside Ajman Port and was created in 1988. Oxford Business Group's 2025 Ajman report puts it at about 867,000 square metres with over 530 warehouses, 7,000 offices and 22 clusters, and counts roughly 9,000 companies. Sector counts in the same report include about 800 construction related traders, over 430 food and beverage firms, 361 in jewellery and 320 in textiles.
Outside the free zone, the Al Jurf industrial areas 1, 2 and 3 lie on the northern border with Umm Al Quwain, and Ajman Industrial 1 and 2 lie near the Sharjah border. The same report describes Industrial 1 as focused on electrical and mechanical repair and Industrial 2 on textiles and ready-to-wear clothing. Inland, Manama and Masfout are mainly farming settlements rather than factory districts.
Ajman Port handles around 1,000 ship calls a year and is a small gateway beside the free zone. Larger container volumes usually come through Sharjah and Dubai ports and arrive by road, because Sharjah surrounds Ajman on three sides. The Free Zone describes easy access to Dubai and Sharjah airports. The Oxford Business Group report mentions a planned deeper water port, so check current berth and draught limits with your forwarder before booking large lots.
Trade and industrial licences come from the Ajman Department of Economic Development. The Free Zones Authority of Ajman oversees Ajman Free Zone and Ajman Media City Free Zone. The Ajman Municipality and Planning Department handles building permits and runs a building material testing laboratory. Civil Defence sign-off appears in the completion process for non-residential buildings. Power and water are supplied by Etihad Water and Electricity. The Ajman Chamber, renamed in July 2024, represents commercial, industrial and agricultural firms.
Construction trades and building material traders are the largest group, followed by food and beverage, textiles, jewellery and automotive. Small workshops buy bearings, tools and spares, and the free zone's technology and robotics hub draws a smaller electronics demand. Oil and gas, mining and heavy process industry are thin in Ajman. Buyers with that need usually source from Abu Dhabi or Sharjah and use Ajman for trading, storage and light fabrication.
