Heavy-duty gas turbines and power plant packages
When UAE utilities and independent power producers weigh up gas turbine suppliers for combined-cycle expansion, Ansaldo Energia is one of the names that comes up as an alternative to the largest incumbent OEMs. The Italian manufacturer builds heavy-duty GT26 and GT36 turbines alongside the smaller AE-series, and offers turnkey combined-cycle power plants with long-term service backing. UAE buyers typically approach Ansaldo Energia equipment through project-specific engineering procurement channels and regional industrial distributors rather than off-the-shelf stock purchasing.

Ansaldo Energia is an Italian manufacturer of heavy-duty and mid-size gas turbines, steam turbines and generators, with the capability to deliver complete turnkey power plants rather than standalone equipment alone. Its heavy-duty gas turbine range carries technology heritage from Alstom, and the company positions itself as a credible alternative to the largest global OEMs for utility-scale simple-cycle and combined-cycle power projects.
Beyond equipment manufacturing, Ansaldo Energia offers engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for full power plants, plus ongoing plant service and upgrade work for its installed fleet. This full-lifecycle capability is relevant to UAE utilities and independent power producers assessing suppliers not just on turbine performance but on long-term plant support.
Ansaldo Energia's core offering for the power generation sector includes:
Buyers researching utility-scale generation equipment can review the broader gas turbines category on ListGCC to see how Ansaldo Energia's range compares with other heavy-duty and mid-size turbine brands available to UAE buyers.
Ansaldo Energia's turbines and plant packages are relevant primarily to UAE utility-scale and independent power generation, where combined-cycle plants built around GT26 or GT36 turbines can serve grid supply, and smaller AE-series machines suit industrial or distributed generation needs at individual facilities. Combined-cycle configurations are attractive where fuel efficiency and lower emissions intensity matter for long-term operating economics.
Power infrastructure sited across the UAE's coastal and desert regions has to contend with high ambient temperatures that reduce turbine output and efficiency, along with humidity and salt exposure near the coast that increase corrosion risk. These conditions typically inform turbine intake and cooling system design as well as plant layout decisions made at the engineering stage, well before equipment is ordered.
Given the scale of Ansaldo Energia's equipment, sourcing in the UAE typically happens at project level, through engineering, procurement and construction contractors, authorised regional representatives or specialised industrial suppliers, rather than through general stock distribution. Buyers should confirm whether a contact is an authorised representative able to provide factory-backed technical support and warranty terms, or an intermediary trader without direct manufacturer backing.
Lead times for heavy-duty gas turbines and combined-cycle plant packages are inherently long, typically measured in many months to multiple years depending on scope, and are usually built into the overall project schedule from the outset. Spares and plant service work generally have shorter, more variable lead times. As with any major power generation equipment imported into the UAE, buyers should confirm documentation aligns with ESMA / Emirates Conformity requirements where applicable, and request detailed technical specifications early in the procurement process.
For a considered purchase like a gas turbine or power plant package, ListGCC lets UAE buyers submit a single enquiry and receive quotes from multiple regional suppliers and representatives, rather than reaching out to each one separately. This supports a more structured comparison of technical scope, lead time and service terms across potential suppliers.
Verified supplier badges on ListGCC help buyers identify distributors and representatives with a genuine, established regional presence, which is particularly useful when evaluating suppliers for large capital equipment like Ansaldo Energia turbines. Comparing multiple verified suppliers before committing to a project is a practical way to manage both cost and delivery risk.
