Wound care products in the UAE are the dressings, bandages, tapes and related items that hospitals, wound clinics, home care providers and pharmacies use to protect and heal wounds. This page lists UAE suppliers and explains how to choose them: dressing types by wound and exudate level, EN 13726 test data, adhesive behaviour in UAE heat, EDE registration and what drives price and supply.
Abu Dhabi's health system is regulated by the Department of Health, which licenses facilities and sets standards across the emirate. Public sector purchasing is increasingly centralised: ADQ announced a group purchasing organisation, Rafed, to take on primary procurement for the public hospital operator SEHA, according to a report from around 2020. For a supplier of healthcare and medical equipment, that means fewer, larger buyers and tender-style selling, plus a private hospital and clinic market that buys more directly.
Hospitals and clinics buy diagnostic equipment, hospital furniture and infrastructure, laboratory equipment and medical consumables continuously. Building services for health sites include medical gas systems and sterilization equipment. The emirate also has a pharmaceutical and medical device production push, so pharmaceutical equipment and cleanroom items are of interest to manufacturers in the industrial zones. Dental and surgical lines follow the private clinic market.
Facility licensing is the Department of Health's core job. Federal device registration sits with the Ministry of Health and Prevention, and sources differ on whether the Department needs a separate product registration for devices used in Abu Dhabi, so ask the Department and the supplier to confirm for your exact product. Imaging equipment also involves radiation authorisation, and tender documents often ask for quality system certificates. Do not buy a device without a registration number, an authorised agent and a service contract in writing.
Medical distributors cluster on the island and in the mainland districts close to the large hospitals, while manufacturing and warehousing for pharma sit in KEZAD, where KEZAD describes a dedicated air transport hub for pharmaceuticals. The market is institutional, so small online-style trading is limited, and capital equipment such as MRI usually follows a project. For consumables and furniture, post a requirement with item codes and annual volumes.
Abu Dhabi's industry sits on the mainland, not on the island. The long-established base is Mussafah, an industrial district south-west of the city that began as a small area in the 1970s and grew with government incentives and the building boom of the 2000s. Inside it, the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi, known as ICAD, is operated by KEZAD Group. KEZAD describes itself as the UAE's largest operator of fully integrated economic zones, with a 550 sq km land bank and more than 1,750 companies.
The newer zones lie along the E11 highway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. KEZAD Al Ma'mourah offers serviced land, pre-built warehouses and small industrial units next to Khalifa Port, and its Metal Park is planned at 450,000 sqm. KEZAD also runs a zone in Al Ain, inland toward the Omani border. Further west, Ruwais is a separate story: it is the oil, gas and petrochemical complex of the Al Dhafra region, where the TA'ZIZ chemicals zone is being built, with production reported on track for 2027 in a November 2024 report. Masdar City is different again, a cleantech and research free zone close to the airport.
Khalifa Port is the main gateway for containers and vehicles. AD Ports Group calls it the region's first semi-automated port and lists more than 25 shipping lines and links to more than 70 ports. A dedicated roll-on roll-off terminal serves vehicle imports. The group counts five international airports within reach, including Zayed International, Al Maktoum International in Dubai and Al Ain International. Etihad Rail has carried bulk and industrial cargo since 2023, and AD Ports has reported a Fujairah to ICAD rail route with a customs-enabled inland gateway. Road links to Dubai on the E11 are short, but confirm transit times with your forwarder.
The Department of Municipalities and Transport sets building policy, including the Estidama Pearl rating that is required for a building permit. The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority, ADAFSA, regulates food safety and runs a veterinary quarantine at Khalifa Port. The Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre supervises the OSHAD safety framework, and the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority requires approval and a licence for fire and safety products. Free zone tenants deal with KEZAD Group or Masdar City Free Zone, while mainland firms are licensed through the Department of Economic Development.
Oil, gas and petrochemicals drive the largest orders, followed by metals, building materials, food logistics, vehicles and utilities. Government-linked projects set much of the pace, so supplier prequalification and local approvals matter more here than a quick trade counter sale.
