Tell us about steam turbines in Sharjah, UAE and receive competitive quotes from verified suppliers — free, fast, and no obligation.
Steam turbines in the UAE turn steam from heat recovery boilers, process boilers and waste heat into electricity or shaft power for combined cycle plants, refineries, gas plants and smelters. This page explains the condensing, back-pressure, extraction and mechanical drive types, how UAE heat and scarce cooling water shape the condenser, which API, IEC and ASME standards and UAE approvals apply as of 2026, and what sets price and lead time.
Sharjah has more energy infrastructure than its size suggests. SNOC operates the Sajaa assets: four producing gas fields, a hydrocarbon processing complex, two marine terminals and a gas storage field. Its Wikipedia entry records that the Sajaa complex supplies gas to the Northern Emirates, that a 60 MW solar plant at Sajaa was commissioned in June 2025, and that gas reserves at Hedebah were announced in May 2024. For energy and renewables buyers this creates demand for gas turbines, substations, and power distribution equipment, though much of it is bought by project through operators and contractors.
Bee'ah and Masdar's waste-to-energy plant at the Al Saja'a waste management centre was reported by AGBI and WAM to turn Sharjah's non-recyclable waste into electricity, designed for about 30 MW. Bee'ah has also announced a solar farm on part of the landfill, with phased figures reported from 24 MW upward, though that depends on the landfill being capped. These are large utility projects, so most of what local suppliers sell is smaller: solar panels, inverters and mounting systems for rooftops on warehouses and factories.
The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) supplies electricity, water and piped natural gas, and runs a NOC portal and new connection services. Any generator, transformer, meter or solar tie-in has to fit SEWA's connection rules, so confirm the requirement before you order. Diesel generators remain common as backup for factories and construction sites, as do chillers and cooling plant for larger buildings.
Ask for type test reports, the site rating at Sharjah's summer temperatures and humidity, and the service base. Generators and switchgear usually arrive by sea through Sharjah, Khorfakkan or Jebel Ali, so ask for lead time from order date. If a supplier quotes solar yield, ask what irradiance and soiling assumptions it used. Post a requirement to compare bids on the same load and delivery terms.
Sharjah's industry sits in three places. The first is the Sharjah Industrial Area inside the city, a run of numbered districts mostly along the Dubai border. Wikipedia lists 18 of them plus Al Sajaa, and describes workshops, warehouses, scrap yards, auto parts dealers, building materials firms, engineering contractors and the head office of a paint maker.
The second is Al Sajaa, further out near the airport and Al Hamriyah Port. A 2018 Gulf News report described the Al Sajaa Industrial Oasis, about 14 million square feet backed by Sharjah Asset Management Holding, as land for firms leaving the inner-city areas. It is not a free zone. Sajaa is also where the Sharjah National Oil Corporation (SNOC) runs a gas and condensate processing complex with a hub for pipelines to the Northern Emirates.
The third is the free zones. Hamriyah Free Zone was set up in 1995, covers about 24 square kilometres according to Wikipedia, has its own deep-water port, and holds an LPG storage terminal with a marine berth. SAIF Zone, beside Sharjah International Airport, lists offices, purpose-built warehouses, plots from 2,500 square metres for custom factories or warehouses, and a jewellery manufacturing park. The Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park, a free zone, sits in University City.
Sharjah has ports on two coasts. Gulftainer lists the Sharjah Container Terminal, the Khorfakkan Commercial Terminal on the east coast, the Sharjah Dry Port and the Sajaa Dry Port among the facilities it manages. Hamriyah's port is described as 14 metres deep. By road, the E311 and E611 connect to Dubai, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah, and the E88 Al Dhaid Road runs across to Fujairah. Many buyers also clear cargo at Jebel Ali in Dubai, so ask your forwarder which gate suits your load.
The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) licenses businesses and has an industrial-area branch; its page says factories also need approval from Sharjah Municipality and the environmental authorities. Sharjah Municipality handles building permits, product approvals and food control. Sharjah Civil Defence approves plans, issues hazardous materials permits and compliance certificates, and ran a large inspection campaign in the industrial zones in the first half of 2025. The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) supplies power, water and piped natural gas. Companies inside a free zone deal with that zone's own authority first.
Building materials, paints, engineering workshops, auto parts and general trading dominate the inner industrial districts. Food processing has a foothold in Hamriyah, where a halal processed meat factory was reported in 2017. Gas, condensate and LPG handling drive oilfield and process-equipment demand at Sajaa and Hamriyah. Farming is small, centred on Al Dhaid. Sharjah is not a mining or heavy-steel city, so those buyers look to Abu Dhabi or the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
