Spill Control Kits Suppliers, UAE
Spill control kits in the UAE are packs of absorbent socks, pads, pillows and drain covers, with PPE and disposal bags, that let staff contain and clean up leaks of oil, fuel, coolant and chemicals before they reach drains, soil or the sea. This page lists UAE suppliers and explains kit types, sizing against your largest container, bunding, the Dubai and Abu Dhabi rules that apply and what drives price.

What are spill control kits and which types do UAE sites need?
A spill control kit is a ready packed set of absorbents and accessories, kept next to where liquids are stored or handled, so the first person on the scene can stop a spill spreading. In the UAE it is one of the product groups in health, safety and environment equipment for UAE sites, bought by fuel stations, generator and plant yards, workshops, warehouses in JAFZA and KIZAD, labs, hospitals and port operators at Jebel Ali and Khalifa Port.
The absorbent must match the liquid. Oil-only absorbents repel water, universal ones take most non-aggressive fluids, and chemical ones are made for acids, alkalis and solvents.
| Kit type | Typical UAE use | Key specification |
|---|---|---|
| Oil-only kit | Fuel stations, generator yards, jetties and rain-exposed outdoor areas | Absorbs hydrocarbons and floats on water; absorbent capacity in litres |
| Universal (maintenance) kit | Workshops, plant rooms, chiller plants and warehouses | Takes oils, coolants and water-based fluids; pads, socks and pillows mix |
| Chemical (hazmat) kit | Labs, water treatment chemical stores, battery rooms, hospitals | Chemically resistant absorbent, neutraliser where needed, chemical gloves and goggles |
| Container format: grab bag, wheeled bin or drum | Vehicles and forklifts, loading bays, tank farms | Capacity matched to the largest container in the area; portability |
| Containment: spill pallets, bunds, drain covers and booms | Drum stores, IBC areas, storm drains, marinas and quays | Sump volume, chemical compatibility, boom length for open water |
Kits work alongside storage hardware. Drums and totes from IBC and drum suppliers sit on spill pallets, and the used absorbent goes to a licensed contractor for hazardous waste disposal in the UAE.
How do you size and place a spill kit for a UAE site?
Size the kit to at least the volume of the largest container that could leak in that area, then place it within easy reach of where spills start. A small kit two buildings away is no help when a drum splits in a loading bay.
Capacity and location
Makers quote capacity as the litres of liquid the full kit absorbs. List the containers, drums, IBCs, day tanks and vehicle fuel tanks in each zone, take the largest, and add margin for liquids that spread on hot concrete. Put kits at fuel points, drum stores, forklift charging areas and on service vehicles, and mark the locations on the site emergency plan.
Heat, sun and storage
Summer heat speeds evaporation of fuel and solvent spills, which raises vapour levels and fire risk while staff clean up. For large flammable spills, keep fire extinguishers and fire fighting equipment nearby and check vapour with portable gas detectors before people work close in. Store kits out of direct sun, because polypropylene absorbents and plastic bins degrade under strong UV, and replace the contents after every use.
Rain, wash water and drains
Sites near the coast and in low lying areas drain straight to the storm network or the sea. Drain covers and oil-only booms stop a spill reaching them, and are worth including wherever a drain sits within the spill path.
People
Chemical kits include gloves and goggles, but staff handling acids or solvents need the correct chemical resistant PPE and training in the SDS for each product.
Which standards and rules apply to spill control in the UAE?
There is no single UAE approval mark for spill kits. Requirements come from workplace safety and hazardous materials rules, which say spills must be contained and cleaned, and from client specifications that may ask for absorbents tested to ASTM methods. Checked as of 2026; confirm with your emirate's authority.
| Requirement | Applies to | Authority or source |
|---|---|---|
| Flammable liquid spills cleaned up immediately; dike walls holding at least 110% of the tank capacity around portable fuel tanks | Construction sites in Dubai | Dubai Municipality Safety Guide for Construction Works |
| Facilities for flushing and neutralising spilled electrolyte at battery charging areas | Construction sites in Dubai | Dubai Municipality Safety Guide for Construction Works |
| Hazardous materials guidelines under GHS Revision 11 (labelling, SDS, lifecycle duties) | Entities handling hazardous materials in Abu Dhabi | Abu Dhabi Hazardous Materials Management Centre with the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council |
| ASTM F716 | Laboratory comparison of absorbents for chemical and light hydrocarbon spills | ASTM International (F716-24 is current) |
| ASTM F726 | Laboratory comparison of adsorbents for crude oil and related spills on water | ASTM International |
The Abu Dhabi hazardous materials guidelines were reported as binding when they were announced in April 2026; ask the regulator how they apply to your activity. The ASTM methods are comparison tests rather than approvals, so use them to check that two quoted absorbents are measured the same way.
Who supplies spill control kits in the UAE?
UAE buyers get spill kits from safety stockists, environmental product distributors and authorised agents of the manufacturers. Many local suppliers also assemble kits to order from imported absorbents.
New Pig makes absorbent socks, mats and pillows and complete kits, and Brady sells sorbents alongside its signage and lockout lines. 3M produces oil, maintenance and chemical sorbents. UK makers Darcy Spillcare, Lubetech, Ecospill and Fentex cover absorbents, kits and booms, and Empteezy adds spill pallets, bunds and drum storage. Sysbel makes safety storage cabinets and spill products, and CEP manufactures industrial sorbents, including marine booms.
- Contents list: ask for the list of items and the rated capacity on the label, not just the container size.
- Refill packs: confirm refills are stocked locally so a used kit can be restored the same week.
- Training: some suppliers run spill drills; UAE safety training providers also cover spill response.
For trade licence and agency checks, use the guide to sourcing industrial suppliers in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
What affects spill kit prices and lead time in the UAE?
Price follows absorbent type, capacity and container. Lead time is short for standard kits held in UAE stock and longer for custom kits or large booms.
- Absorbent chemistry: chemical absorbents usually cost more than oil-only or universal types.
- Capacity and format: wheeled bins and drum kits cost more than grab bags; spill pallets and bunds are priced by sump volume and material.
- Branding and refills: branded refills cost more than generic, but keep contents consistent with the label.
- Marine booms: long boom lengths and heavy duty designs are often made to order.
