The formulation matters as much as the active ingredient. Emulsifiable concentrates, suspension concentrates, wettable powders and water dispersible granules each behave differently in hot stores and in the spray tank, and granules or baits avoid spray drift altogether. Under the 2018 decision, banned pesticides cannot be registered or imported, registration certificates and import permits cannot be transferred, and imports may come only from the manufacturer or its branches. Government research centres and accredited universities may import small quantities of unregistered products for research, labelled as not for sale, and the ministry can sample products on the market and suspend permits for those that fail. Dubai Municipality's pest control section also tests pesticide effectiveness and publishes a list of approved pest control companies.
