Liquid Applied Membranes Suppliers, UAE
Liquid Applied Membranes are fluid waterproofing coatings that cure to form a seamless, elastic membrane on concrete, metal, and other substrates. They are applied by roller, brush, spray, or trowel to roofs, balconies, wet areas, and complex geometries where sheet membrane installation is difficult. The ability to create a joint-free waterproofing layer makes liquid membranes ideal for irregular shapes and areas with many penetrations.

Liquid applied waterproofing membranes are single or multi-component polymer coatings that cure to form a continuous, elastic, waterproof film. Chemistry types include polyurethane (the most common for roofing and exposed applications, UV-stable formulations available), acrylic (water-based, for protected applications and wet areas), polyurea and polyaspartic (fast-curing, for time-critical and high-performance applications), and bitumen-rubber emulsions (for below-grade and concealed applications). Applied wet film thickness typically ranges from 1 to 3mm, curing to a 0.8 to 2mm dry film.
In the UAE and Saudi Arabia, liquid membranes are specified for flat roof waterproofing (particularly over complex roof geometries with many penetrations), balcony and terrace waterproofing beneath tile finishes, bathroom and kitchen waterproofing (as a flexible tanking layer), car park deck waterproofing (combined with traffic-bearing wearing course), and podium slab waterproofing. Key specifications include elongation at break (minimum 200 percent for structural substrate movement), tensile strength, crack-bridging ability, UV resistance (for exposed applications), and compatibility with the substrate and any finishes applied over the membrane.
Major liquid membrane brands in the GCC include Sika (Sikalastic), BASF (MasterSeal), Fosroc, Mapei, Tremco, and Jotun. Procurement managers should specify liquid membranes as complete systems (primer plus membrane layers plus topcoat) from a single manufacturer, verify the applicator's training and manufacturer approval, and build in quality assurance measures including wet film thickness checks during application and adhesion pull-off testing after curing. Liquid membranes are sensitive to substrate moisture, ambient temperature, and humidity during application — in the GCC, application windows may need to be restricted to cooler hours or seasons for optimal curing.
