LED display boards in the UAE are modular screens, from message boards to large video walls, used for advertising, lobbies, control rooms, events and industrial sites. This page explains how to read pixel pitch, brightness and IP ratings, how UAE heat and dust affect outdoor screens, which permits and product rules apply as of 2026, and what drives price and delivery.
The most visible are marine and glass. Al Jazeera Port runs a ship repair yard that RAK Ports describes as offering drydocking and afloat repair, with a synchronized lifting dock of up to 1,100 tonnes, 12 dry berths for vessels up to 77.5 meters and nine jetties totalling 1.1 km. RAK Maritime City adds yacht and small vessel yards. A float glass plant started full production in 2007, which makes glass, ceramics and refractory supply a real local need. Together they define other industrial and B2B services in this emirate, a mixed sector with a few clear strengths.
Marine buyers work from Al Jazeera Port, Saqr Port and RAK Maritime City. Glass, ceramics and packaging users sit in the Al Hamra and Al Ghail zones. Service firms for company setup, licensing and legal work are found around RAKEZ, which offers licences for several business segments in its industrial zones. Check any activity license with RAKEZ or the RAK Department of Economic Development before you sign a lease.
Ship owners and yacht builders buy shipbuilding and repair, marine equipment, ship chandlers supplies and marine paints and coatings. Glass and ceramic plants buy refractory materials and industrial ceramics, while builders buy flat glass. Some local firms also use uniform and workwear suppliers and training providers for site staff.
For ship repair, ask for the berth schedule, class approvals the yard holds and whether you may bring your own contractors, which RAK Ports says owners and repairers can do on a rented berth. For refractories, ask for the chemical analysis and a furnace lining plan from the supplier. For glass, check the thickness tolerance and the safety glass standard on the quotation. Where food or hospitality is involved, check halal requirements for any product that touches food. Use post a requirement to compare offers.
Most of the emirate's factories sit inside the Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone, known as RAKEZ, which was formed in 2017 by merging the former RAK Free Trade Zone and the RAK Investment Authority. RAKEZ runs three industrial zones. Al Ghail is the heavy-manufacturing zone with the largest plots and a connection to the Etihad Rail freight facility. Al Hamra suits light and high-tech manufacturing and processing, and RAKEZ lists tenants there from tea blending to glass bottles and wiring harnesses. Al Hulaila is positioned for heavy industry beside Saqr Port, with land plots and warehouses on offer. RAKEZ lets investors choose a free zone or a non-free-zone licence in these zones, which matters if you plan to sell to the UAE mainland.
Saqr Port is the heart of the freight system. RAK Ports describes it as one of the largest bulk ports in the region, and trade reports put its handling at around 70 to 85 million tonnes a year, mostly limestone, aggregates, cement and clinker from local quarries, with a container terminal alongside. Ras Al Khaimah International Airport takes air freight. By road, the airport operator's published figures give roughly 60 km from Sharjah, about 110 km from Dubai city and about 250 km from Abu Dhabi city, so same-day delivery to Dubai is realistic while Abu Dhabi is a longer run. Etihad Rail's Al Ghail freight facility was announced in 2021 to move quarry material by train towards Abu Dhabi, and RAKEZ now describes Al Ghail as connected to the rail terminal.
The RAK Department of Economic Development licenses commercial and industrial activity on the mainland, while RAKEZ licenses companies inside its zones. RAKEZ tells manufacturers to obtain external clearances after licensing, naming environmental, Civil Defence and health authorities. RAK Municipality handles building permits outside the free zones, and a completion certificate from Civil Defence is needed for industrial and multi-storey buildings. For RAKEZ sites, RAKEZ itself pre-approves open yards with Civil Defence. Confirm which regime applies to your plot before ordering.
Quarrying, cement and construction materials are the emirate's historic base, and manufacturing is reported at more than a third of local GDP in a RAKEZ article. Food processing, pharmaceuticals, packaging, building products and automotive components follow. Large hospitality projects on Al Marjan Island, including the Wynn resort scheduled for spring 2027, add steady demand for fit-out and facilities supplies. Heavy oil and gas is not a local strength; for that, look to Abu Dhabi.
