Electromagnetic Flow Meters Suppliers, UAE
Electromagnetic flow meters (magmeters) measure the volumetric flow rate of conductive liquids by detecting the voltage induced when the fluid passes through a magnetic field perpendicular to the flow direction. They are the dominant flowmeter technology for water, wastewater, chemical, and slurry applications across GCC municipalities, desalination plants, and industrial facilities. Procurement advantages include no moving parts, no pressure drop, and suitability for a wide range of pipe sizes and fluid conditions.

Electromagnetic flow meters operate on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction, measuring the velocity of a conductive liquid as it passes through a magnetic field to determine volumetric flow rate. With no moving parts, no pressure drop, and no sensitivity to density, viscosity, or temperature changes, magmeters are the preferred choice for water, wastewater, chemical, and slurry flow measurement throughout the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
Available in pipe sizes from 2.5 mm to 3,000 mm, electromagnetic flow meters serve applications from laboratory dosing to main water transmission lines. Standard accuracy is 0.5 percent of reading, with premium models offering 0.2 percent for custody transfer and fiscal metering. Liner materials (PTFE, PFA, rubber, ceramic) and electrode materials (316L SS, Hastelloy C, tantalum, platinum) are selected based on chemical compatibility and abrasion resistance.
Key applications in the GCC include potable water distribution metering for DEWA, ADDC, and NWC, desalination plant process and output metering, industrial effluent monitoring, chemical dosing control, district cooling chilled water metering, and food and beverage processing. The absence of flow obstruction makes magmeters ideal for water containing sand, fibres, or biological solids common in GCC wastewater applications.
Procurement managers should specify the correct liner material for the process temperature and chemical exposure. Request OIML R49 or MID MI-001 certification for custody transfer and billing applications. For large-diameter mains (above 600 mm), consider insertion-type electromagnetic flow meters that install through a hot tap, avoiding pipeline shutdown. Ensure the meter's minimum conductivity requirement (typically 5 micro-Siemens per centimetre) is met by the measured fluid; deionized water and hydrocarbon liquids cannot be measured by standard magmeters.
