Control Valves Suppliers, UAE
Control valves in the UAE are the throttling valves, with actuator and positioner, that hold pressure, flow, level and temperature in oil and gas plants, power and desalination stations, district cooling and water networks. This page lists UAE control valve suppliers and explains valve types, sizing to IEC 60534, seat leakage classes, Gulf heat and instrument air, ECAS-Ex rules for positioners, and what moves price and delivery.

- How to Choose Industrial Valves for Gulf Projects
A practical guide to selecting industrial valves for Gulf projects: function, pressure class, materials, key API and ASME standards, actuation and what to put in your RFQ.
What are control valves and which types do UAE plants specify?
A control valve is a final control element: it changes its opening continuously on a signal from the control system so that a process variable stays at set point. It is bought as an assembly of body, trim, actuator and positioner, and that is what separates it from the manual isolation valves covered on our industrial valves page for UAE buyers. In the UAE the main users are ADNOC group plants in Ruwais, Habshan and Das Island, gas fired power and reverse osmosis desalination stations, district cooling plants in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and municipal water networks.
The body style follows the duty: pressure drop, flow range, fluid and how tight the valve must shut.
| Type | Typical UAE duty | Points to specify |
|---|---|---|
| Globe, single seat or cage guided | Steam, fuel gas, hydrocarbon liquids, boiler feedwater | Cv, flow characteristic, trim type, seat leakage class, bonnet type for temperature |
| Angle body | Flashing condensate, erosive or high pressure drop letdown | Outlet liner, hardened trim, flow direction |
| Rotary: segmented ball, eccentric plug, high performance butterfly | Large bore gas, cooling water, slurries, pulp and fibrous fluids | Rangeability, shaft and seal design, torque at shutoff, actuator linkage |
| Severe service multi-stage or anti-cavitation trim | Pump recirculation, high pressure letdown, compressor anti-surge | Cavitation and noise prediction, stroking speed, trim stage count |
| Pressure independent control valve (PICV) | Chilled water terminals in buildings served by district cooling | Flow setting range, differential pressure range, actuator signal |
| Pilot operated hydraulic control valve | Pressure reducing, sustaining and altitude control in water networks | Pilot function, set range, body material and coating for potable water |
Where the valve only has to be open or shut, a quarter turn ball valve for isolation duty or a solenoid valve for small bore on and off service is usually cheaper. Manual throttling and bypass lines around a control valve station normally use manual globe valves, and overpressure protection is never the job of a control valve: that stays with certified safety and relief valves.
How do you size and specify a control valve?
Size a control valve from process data, not from the line size. Give the supplier minimum, normal and maximum flow with the matching inlet and outlet pressures and temperatures, and the fluid properties, and ask for a sizing sheet calculated to IEC 60534-2-1 or its ISA equivalent.
IEC 60534-2-1 (2011 edition, confirmed again by CENELEC in July 2026) gives the flow equations for compressible and incompressible fluids. Its scope excludes non-Newtonian fluids, slurries and liquid and solid mixtures, so for sludge, brine with solids or two phase flow ask the manufacturer how the sizing was done. A valve that runs near its seat at normal flow will wear and control badly; most engineers aim for a normal opening well inside the travel range and check that the minimum flow is still controllable.
Seat leakage class
Seat leakage is specified as a class under ANSI/FCI 70-2. Valmet's guide to the 2013 edition sets Class IV at 0.01% of rated valve capacity, Class V as a water test at maximum operating pressure drop with a limit per inch of seat diameter per psi, and Class VI as a soft seat air or nitrogen test counted in bubbles per minute. The same guide stresses that these are bench tests on new valves and say nothing about leakage once in service. Do not ask for Class VI on a valve that must also throttle hot or dirty fluid; if you need tight isolation there, add a separate block valve.
Actuator, positioner and fail position
State the fail position (open, closed or last) from the process hazard review, the supply available (instrument air or electric), and the signal, usually 4 to 20 mA with HART or a fieldbus. Pneumatic spring and diaphragm or piston actuators are the norm in UAE process plants; see pneumatic valve actuators for actuator selection and valve actuators in general for electric and hydraulic options.
How do UAE heat, dust and coastal air affect control valves?
The valve body rarely suffers from UAE weather; the positioner, actuator diaphragm, soft seats and instrument air do. Specify them for the ambient that a sun exposed instrument sees in July in Ruwais or Jebel Ali, not for the shade temperature.
- Positioners and electronics: ask for the positioner's rated ambient range in writing and compare it with the temperature inside a closed enclosure in direct sun. Sun shades over field instruments are common on UAE sites.
- Instrument air: humid coastal air and a poorly maintained dryer put water and rust into positioner relays. Specify a filter regulator at each valve and check the plant's air dryer before blaming the valve.
- Dust: fine sand around exposed stems wears packing and causes stick slip. Ask for stem boots or covers where the stem is exposed and keep vent ports facing down.
- Seawater and brine: high pressure reverse osmosis and brine reject valves in UAE desalination plants see large pressure drops and chlorides, so cavitation resistant trims and duplex or super duplex wetted parts are common requests. Agree materials with the plant metallurgist; our parent page and the desalination plant category cover seawater materials in more depth.
Which standards and approvals apply to control valves in the UAE?
Control valves in the UAE are bought to the owner's specification and to international standards; the one UAE certificate that often applies is ECAS-Ex for electrical accessories used in hazardous areas, not for the valve body itself. Checked as of 2026.
| Requirement | Applies to | Authority |
|---|---|---|
| IEC 60534-2-1 (EN 60534-2-1:2011) | Sizing equations and the sizing sheet | IEC, adopted by CENELEC |
| ANSI/FCI 70-2 | Seat leakage classes I to VI and the factory leak test | Fluid Controls Institute |
| ISO 15848-1 | Fugitive emission type testing of stem seals; endurance class CC1 is 20,000 stem cycles for control valves | ISO, called up by owner specifications |
| API RP 553, third edition (May 2026) | Selection, sizing, fugitive emissions, cavitation and noise for refinery control valves and SIS valves | American Petroleum Institute |
| ASME B16.34 and NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 | Body pressure ratings; materials for sour service | ASME; ISO and AMPP |
| ECAS-Ex certificate, Cabinet Resolution No. 23 of 2016 | Electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres, including measurement and control devices such as positioners and solenoids | MoIAT, based on IECEx certificates and reports |
| ADNOC approved manufacturer lists | Control valves on ADNOC group projects | ADNOC companies and their EPC contractors |
Intertek describes the ECAS-Ex scheme as covering electrical devices for generation, distribution, measurement and control in potentially explosive atmospheres, issued against an IECEx test certificate, test report and quality audit report, with validity of one or three years. A smart positioner, limit switch box or solenoid on a valve in a classified area therefore needs its own certificate, separate from the valve. Our ECAS and EQM conformity guide explains how to check one, and the valve selection guide for GCC projects covers materials and RFQ content.
Who supplies control valves in the UAE?
Most engineered control valves in the UAE are sold by the manufacturer's regional office or an authorised representative that sizes the valve, assembles actuator and positioner locally and holds calibration and service tools. Stockists handle standard HVAC and water valves and spare trims.
Control valve brands carried on ListGCC include Emerson Fisher globe and rotary control valves with digital positioners; SAMSON (Germany), which also makes self-operated regulators; Flowserve control valves alongside its pumps and seals; IMI Critical Engineering, whose CCI brand is known for severe service and anti-surge trims; Baker Hughes Masoneilan; Neles segment and rotary valves, now under Valmet; and ARCA for heavy duty control and steam conditioning valves. For buildings and networks, Crane Fluid Systems makes PICVs and balancing valves used on district cooling systems, and Tecnidro makes pilot operated hydraulic control valves for water networks.
Ask every bidder for a dated authorisation letter, the name of the local workshop that will calibrate and repair the valve, and which spare trims are held in the UAE. To compare several offers against one datasheet, post your requirement with the process data attached.
What drives the price and lead time of control valves in the UAE?
A control valve's price is set mostly by its trim and accessories, not its size. Two valves of the same size and class can differ several times in cost once anti-cavitation trim, exotic alloys, a smart positioner, SIL documentation and witnessed testing are added.
- Trim and materials: standard stainless trim versus hardened, stellited, multi-stage or duplex trims.
- Body rating and bonnet: higher classes, extension or bellows bonnets for hot, cold or toxic service.
- Accessories: positioner, volume boosters, solenoids, limit switches, air sets and their hazardous area certificates.
- Testing: ISO 15848-1 fugitive emission certification, stroke and dynamic tests, third party witness.
- Documents: sizing sheets, noise calculations, material certificates and the vendor document list the EPC must approve.
Lead time splits the same way. Standard globe valves with common trims are assembled regionally from stocked parts, while severe service and large rotary valves are built to order and shipped through Jebel Ali or Khalifa Port after factory testing. Sizing approval often takes longer than manufacture, so send complete process data with the enquiry.
