Composites and FRP in the UAE are glass and carbon fibre reinforced plastic products, mainly GRP pipe and duct, tanks and vessels, gratings and carbon fibre strengthening, bought where steel would corrode. This page lists UAE suppliers and explains the main product types, how Gulf sun and seawater affect resin choice, the standards UAE specifications cite, and what drives price and lead time.
Fujairah has an established base of plastics converters. Directory listings place makers of containers, crates, pallets and jerry cans in the Sanaiya area and along Al Hayl Road, and one listed firm describes a flexible packaging plant at Al Hayl with a 5-layer blown film line. Those are self-descriptions and worth confirming before you buy. For plastics, rubber and packaging buyers, the local customers are food and consumer goods traders in the Fujairah Free Zone, building-product and aggregate producers and oil-terminal operators.
Common purchases are plastic pipes and profiles for site works, plastic tanks and containers for water and chemicals, and pallets and crates for the port and warehouses. Shippers need stretch film and shrink wrap and IBCs and drums for liquid goods. Marine and terminal sites also buy rubber hoses for transfer work.
For anything that carries fuel or chemicals, ask for the resin grade, compatibility chart and pressure rating, not only the colour and size. For food packaging, ask for food contact declarations and keep halal supply chains in mind. Export pallets headed abroad may need treatment marks, so ask your forwarder what the destination requires. In summer heat, check UV stabilisation on outdoor tanks and crates; a cheap unstabilised tank can crack within a season on the coast.
Plastics burn quickly, and Fujairah has had warehouse fires involving plastic stock in press reports. Confirm sprinkler and storage rules with Fujairah Civil Defence before leasing a warehouse for plastic goods in the Free Zone or Al Hayl. For the raw material, check whether the supplier stocks locally or ships from Jebel Ali or the Saudi petrochemical belt. To compare converters on one drawing, use post a requirement.
Fujairah is the only emirate that lies entirely on the eastern coast, on the Gulf of Oman, and the UAE government describes it as the country's only access point to the Indian Ocean. Its industry follows that coastline. The Port of Fujairah and the Fujairah Free Zone sit next to each other just north of Fujairah City, and the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone behind the port holds a large share of the region's refined and crude oil storage. Wikipedia puts that storage at about 10 million cubic metres and counts 18 companies in the zone. Inland, the Hajar foothills carry the quarries, crushers and cement plants that supply building projects in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Al Hayl is the working industrial area for warehouses, workshops and heavy engineering yards, and the Fujairah Free Zone Authority has long held land there for heavy engineering.
The port runs oil, dry bulk, marine services, container, general cargo, RoRo, cruise and livestock berths, and it also serves the aggregate and limestone trades. Fujairah Terminals is upgrading the container and general cargo side, and the port says capacity is expected to reach 1.3 million TEU by 2030. Fujairah International Airport lies south of the city and mainly handles cargo. By road, the Sheikh Khalifa Highway links the city to Dubai. By rail, Etihad Rail and AD Ports launched a container service on 21 September 2026 between Fujairah Terminals and the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi, about 200 km away, with three trips a week at launch. Because Fujairah is outside the Strait of Hormuz, shipowners and traders use it for bunkering, spares and crew supplies without the transit.
Most approvals sit with Fujairah Municipality for building and trade premises, Civil Defence for fire and life safety, and the Fujairah Free Zone Authority for anything inside the zone. Port-side activity answers to the Port of Fujairah. Water and power connections are handled by Etihad Water and Electricity, and environmental clearance for quarries, storage and plants involves the emirate's environment authority. Confirm the exact sequence for your premises with Fujairah Municipality before signing a lease or ordering plant.
Four groups drive demand. Oil terminals and marine service firms buy pumps, valves, hoses, lubricants, safety gear and fire equipment. Quarry and cement operators buy crushers, earthmoving machines, conveyors and spares. Power and water plants at Qidfa, south of Khor Fakkan, buy rotating equipment, chemicals and controls; the 60 MIGD seawater desalination plant signed by Etihad Water and Electricity in 2026 for the Port of Fujairah area will add to that. Farms in Masafi, Dibba and the wadis, plus fishing fleets, buy irrigation, cold storage and boat gear. Hospitals including the new Sheikh Khalifa Hospital, opened in 2025, buy medical equipment.
