Gabbioneta API pumps for oil, gas and refining
Some hydrocarbon duties, particularly toxic, flammable or very hot fluids, call for a pump with no shaft seal at all, and that is where Weir's Gabbioneta Pumps line specialises. Gabbioneta manufactures API 610 and API 685-compliant centrifugal pumps, including overhung, between-bearings and sealless designs engineered for refining and petrochemical processing. Weir is a much larger UK engineering group best known for minerals and slurry pumps, but Gabbioneta addresses a distinct, highly engineered pump segment. UAE buyers typically source Gabbioneta pumps through Weir's regional operations or authorised channels.

Weir is a UK-headquartered global engineering group perhaps best known for slurry and minerals-processing pumps, but its Gabbioneta Pumps brand operates in a different part of the market: engineered centrifugal pumps built to API 610 and API 685 for oil and gas, refining and petrochemical duty. Rather than a catalogue product line, Gabbioneta pumps are commonly supplied as engineered-to-order equipment, designed around a project's specific pressure, temperature and fluid-handling requirements.
The brand's focus on full API compliance and demanding hydrocarbon services, paired with dedicated aftermarket support for critical refinery and petrochemical rotating equipment, has made Weir Gabbioneta a recognised name where process pumps need to meet strict specification requirements rather than general industrial duty.
API 610 overhung pumps cover a broad band of refining and petrochemical process duties with a single-bearing-housing design suited to moderate-to-high pressure and temperature service.
Between-bearings barrel pumps support the impeller shaft on both sides within a fully enclosed barrel casing, a configuration typically specified for high-pressure, high-temperature or hazardous hydrocarbon duties where extra shaft rigidity and casing integrity matter.
Vertical API pumps address applications such as sump, pit or in-line process service where a horizontal footprint is impractical.
API 685 sealless pumps eliminate the shaft seal entirely, using magnetic-drive or canned-motor technology, and are typically specified for handling toxic, flammable or difficult-to-seal fluids where zero-leakage design is a project requirement rather than an option.
Beyond individual pump models, Weir Gabbioneta also supplies engineered process pump packages, combining the pump with baseplate, coupling guard and auxiliary systems designed to a specific process package rather than assembled from generic components.
The UAE's refining and petrochemical facilities, along with upstream oil and gas processing sites, are the natural home for Weir Gabbioneta's API 610 and API 685 ranges, where the combination of high heat, humidity and coastal or marine exposure typical of Gulf process sites adds to the material and sealing demands already placed on the pump by the process itself. Between-bearings barrel pumps in particular are relevant to high-pressure hydrocarbon services common at coastal refining and gas-processing complexes.
Sealless API 685 pumps are increasingly specified wherever a UAE process facility is handling hazardous or hard-to-seal fluids and wants to reduce fugitive emissions risk, a consideration that has grown alongside tighter environmental expectations on new and revamped process units. Vertical API pumps see use in pit and sump duties across the same facilities. Buyers scoping an engineered process pump requirement can compare Weir Gabbioneta against other manufacturers in the API process pumps category on ListGCC.
Because Gabbioneta pumps are generally engineered-to-order rather than stocked off the shelf, they are typically sourced through Weir's regional operations or authorised distribution and engineering channels in the UAE rather than general industrial traders. Buyers should confirm that a prospective supplier has a direct, authorised relationship with Weir Gabbioneta, since engineering support and API documentation for a specific pump configuration usually needs to be traced back to that channel.
Lead times for engineered-to-order API 610 and API 685 pumps are generally longer than for catalogue equipment, since each pump is designed, manufactured and factory-tested against the project's duty point before shipment; buyers should build this into project schedules from an early stage. Confirming the applicable API 610 or API 685 edition, materials of construction, seal or sealless arrangement and any ESMA / Emirates Conformity documentation required against the project specification is a necessary step before order placement.
Rather than approaching Weir's regional channels individually, buyers can submit a single enquiry through ListGCC and receive quotes from multiple verified Weir Gabbioneta suppliers in the UAE, making it easier to compare technical scope, pricing and lead time for an engineered pump requirement. Verified badges help engineering and procurement teams shortlist credible suppliers before entering detailed technical review.
