Blast freezers in the UAE are the cabinets, roll-in rooms, tunnels and spiral freezers that take cooked or fresh food down to frozen storage temperature fast enough to protect quality and safety. This page lists UAE blast freezer suppliers and explains which type suits a kitchen, bakery or food plant, how to size it for summer conditions, what Dubai rules apply and what moves price and delivery.
It is one of the emirate's stronger sectors. RAKEZ said in 2023 that its business community included nearly 800 food and beverage companies. That year Universal Islamic Food Industries, a Kuwait-based halal meat group, announced a plant of about AED 150 million in Al Hamra Industrial Zone, with 350,000 square feet and a stated 3,000 tonnes a month of ready-to-eat poultry, meat and seafood. Other named tenants include a tea packer and a flavours blender, and an Indian company announced a 13,500 square metre factory in Al Ghail. The food and beverage processing sector here is real, though plant sizes vary widely.
Processors buy food processing equipment, food packaging equipment and filling and sealing machines. Because chilled and frozen goods dominate, industrial refrigeration systems, cold storage rooms and refrigerated trucks and containers are major lines. Quality teams also buy metal detectors and food testing equipment.
Plants sit mainly in Al Hamra and Al Ghail, and stainless steel tank makers, ingredient suppliers and packaging firms are located near them. RAKEZ promotes access to Ras Al Khaimah International Airport, Saqr Port and the highways to Dubai, so raw materials can be imported by sea and finished goods trucked to the main UAE distribution centres in about two hours. Chilled loads need reefer vehicles with temperature records, which you should request in the delivery terms.
Food products sold in the UAE must meet federal and local food safety rules, and meat and poultry processors serve halal markets, so ask suppliers of ingredients and additives for halal certification and a full ingredient declaration. Equipment in contact with food should be stainless steel food grade, with cleaning procedures documented. Confirm the current food safety licensing steps with the Ras Al Khaimah authority responsible and with RAKEZ for zone sites. Put specifications to suppliers through post a requirement.
Most of the emirate's factories sit inside the Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone, known as RAKEZ, which was formed in 2017 by merging the former RAK Free Trade Zone and the RAK Investment Authority. RAKEZ runs three industrial zones. Al Ghail is the heavy-manufacturing zone with the largest plots and a connection to the Etihad Rail freight facility. Al Hamra suits light and high-tech manufacturing and processing, and RAKEZ lists tenants there from tea blending to glass bottles and wiring harnesses. Al Hulaila is positioned for heavy industry beside Saqr Port, with land plots and warehouses on offer. RAKEZ lets investors choose a free zone or a non-free-zone licence in these zones, which matters if you plan to sell to the UAE mainland.
Saqr Port is the heart of the freight system. RAK Ports describes it as one of the largest bulk ports in the region, and trade reports put its handling at around 70 to 85 million tonnes a year, mostly limestone, aggregates, cement and clinker from local quarries, with a container terminal alongside. Ras Al Khaimah International Airport takes air freight. By road, the airport operator's published figures give roughly 60 km from Sharjah, about 110 km from Dubai city and about 250 km from Abu Dhabi city, so same-day delivery to Dubai is realistic while Abu Dhabi is a longer run. Etihad Rail's Al Ghail freight facility was announced in 2021 to move quarry material by train towards Abu Dhabi, and RAKEZ now describes Al Ghail as connected to the rail terminal.
The RAK Department of Economic Development licenses commercial and industrial activity on the mainland, while RAKEZ licenses companies inside its zones. RAKEZ tells manufacturers to obtain external clearances after licensing, naming environmental, Civil Defence and health authorities. RAK Municipality handles building permits outside the free zones, and a completion certificate from Civil Defence is needed for industrial and multi-storey buildings. For RAKEZ sites, RAKEZ itself pre-approves open yards with Civil Defence. Confirm which regime applies to your plot before ordering.
Quarrying, cement and construction materials are the emirate's historic base, and manufacturing is reported at more than a third of local GDP in a RAKEZ article. Food processing, pharmaceuticals, packaging, building products and automotive components follow. Large hospitality projects on Al Marjan Island, including the Wynn resort scheduled for spring 2027, add steady demand for fit-out and facilities supplies. Heavy oil and gas is not a local strength; for that, look to Abu Dhabi.
