Weaving Machines Suppliers, UAE
Weaving machines in the UAE are air-jet, rapier, projectile and narrow fabric looms with the warping and sizing equipment that feeds them. This page explains loom types, the humidity and compressed air a shed needs, the safety standards to ask for and how to choose a supplier.

What are weaving machines and who buys them in the UAE?
Weaving machines, or looms, interlace warp and weft yarns into fabric, and in the UAE the buyers are specialist producers of narrow fabrics, labels, technical and industrial fabric, rugs and woven bags, rather than large apparel mills. The machines belong to the textile machinery category for the UAE alongside knitting, dyeing and sewing equipment.
Weaving is capital heavy and needs preparation machinery, conditioned air and skilled mechanics, so many UAE converters buy woven cloth from abroad and only the right niche justifies a loom. Check that your product, volume and fabric width truly need an in-country loom before asking for quotes.
| Loom type | Typical product | What to specify |
|---|---|---|
| Air-jet loom | Lightweight to medium fabric, high speed on simple weft | Reed width, weft colours, compressed air consumption, shedding motion |
| Rapier loom | Wide range of yarns and colours, including terry, denim and technical fabric | Working width, weft selection, shedding by cam, dobby or jacquard |
| Projectile loom | Heavy or wide fabric, industrial cloth | Width, weft insertion system, fabric weight range |
| Water-jet loom | Smooth filament yarns such as polyester | Water quality and treatment, yarn type, drying line |
| Narrow fabric and label looms | Webbing, tapes, labels, ribbons | Number of heads, width per head, weft insertion, jacquard |
| Preparatory equipment: warping, sizing, drawing-in | Beams ready for the loom | Beam size, creel capacity, size recipe, speed |
Picanol shows airjet and rapier ranges, with models for terry fabric and for connected, self-learning control, and Itema lists rapier, air-jet and projectile machines, including a waste reduction system for rapier looms. Those families are the starting points for most quotes you will see.
Weavers often add finishing and colour. See dyeing machines for colouring fabric and knitting machines if a knitted fabric suits the product better. Finished cloth itself is listed under industrial fabrics, technical textiles and geotextiles.
How does UAE climate affect weaving?
Looms are more sensitive to humidity than any other textile machine, because warp yarn breaks when it is dry, so a UAE weaving shed needs humidification matched to the fibre. This works against typical air-conditioned buildings that run dry.
Humidity targets by fibre
Condair's guide lists weaving at 70 to 85% relative humidity for cotton, 60 to 70% for man-made fibres, 50 to 60% for wool and 60 to 65% for silk. It says every rethreading creates loom stop marks and lowers quality. Treat these as starting points and take the final figure from the fibre and loom makers, and design humidification into the air conditioning from the start.
Static, lint and dust
Dry air also builds static. Condair says holding about 50% relative humidity dissipates static, and that discharges can damage microprocessor-controlled machines. Weaving sheds lint heavily; fit filters, brush out looms on schedule and consider industrial dust collection systems in larger sheds.
Compressed air
Air-jet looms use compressed air for weft insertion, so the industrial air compressors, dryers and filters are a major part of the investment. Ask each maker for the air consumption per loom at your speed and fabric width, and size the system for the whole shed.
Which standards and approvals apply to weaving machines in the UAE?
As of 2026, weaving machine safety is covered by the ISO 11111 series, mainly Part 5 for preparatory machinery to weaving and knitting and Part 6 for fabric manufacturing machinery, and the buyer's job is to obtain the maker's declaration against them. No separate UAE technical regulation for looms was identified in the sources reviewed, so check with MoIAT whether any item in the shipment needs a conformity certificate.
| Requirement | Applies to | Authority or source |
|---|---|---|
| ISO 11111-1: common safety requirements for textile machinery | All textile machines | ISO; maker's declaration |
| ISO 11111-5 and ISO 11111-6 | Warping and sizing machinery, and fabric manufacturing machinery such as looms | ISO; ask which parts the maker used |
| Product conformity certificate | Only products on a MoIAT technical regulation list | Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) |
| Licence, municipality and Civil Defence approvals | The shed, electrical installation, fire protection | Emirate municipality, Civil Defence, free zone authority |
See the guide to ECAS and EQM product conformity in the UAE for how to check a product against the certificate route.
What preparation does a loom need before it can weave?
A loom weaves only from a prepared warp beam, so a plant needs warping, usually sizing for spun yarns, and drawing-in or tying-in before any cloth appears. Filament yarns for technical fabric may skip sizing, but they still need accurate warping tension and a clean creel.
Budget for this equipment, the chemicals for sizing from textile chemicals, and a place to store beams. Many first-time weavers spend as much on preparation, humidification and spares as on the looms, and discover this only after the first quote.
How do you choose a weaving machine supplier in the UAE?
Choose a supplier that commissions looms, trains weavers and mechanics, and stocks reeds, heddles, drop wires and electronics, because looms stop for small parts. For new looms deal with the manufacturer or its authorised agent; traders who sell used looms are best treated as stock sellers, not service providers.
- Ask for a trial weave on your yarn and construction.
- Ask for speed, efficiency and air consumption at your fabric specification.
- Ask what spare parts are held in the UAE and how fast a technician can attend.
- Ask for the ISO 11111 parts applied and the electrical documentation.

What affects the price and lead time of weaving machines in the UAE?
Price follows insertion method, working width, shedding motion (cam, dobby or jacquard) and weft selection, and a complete weaving line also needs warping, sizing and drawing-in equipment. Lead time follows the factory order book plus sea freight to Jebel Ali or Khalifa Port and commissioning.
Add humidification, compressed air, floor works, operator training and a first spare parts kit to your comparison. Used looms can lower capital cost but often have limited parts and older controls, so ask for build year, controller model and parts support in writing.
