Ready-Mix Concrete Suppliers, UAE
Ready-mix concrete in the UAE is concrete batched at a central plant and delivered to site in truck mixers, ready to place. This page lists UAE ready-mix suppliers serving Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the northern emirates, and explains the common mix types, how summer heat and saline ground shape the mix design, which specifications consultants call up, and what drives the price per cubic metre.

What is ready-mix concrete, and which types do UAE projects order?
Ready-mix concrete is concrete proportioned and mixed at a batching plant to an approved mix design, then hauled to site in rotating drum trucks and placed while still fresh. It sits within cement and concrete products for the UAE, and it is the single biggest consumer of OPC and sulphate-resisting Portland cement and of retarders and superplasticisers in the country.
A UAE ready-mix order is a mix design reference, not a product code. The consultant approves one mix per element type, and every truck that leaves the plant should carry a delivery ticket that names it. The mixes below cover most building and infrastructure work.
| Mix type | Where UAE sites use it | What to state on the order |
|---|---|---|
| Blinding and lean concrete | Under footings and rafts, levelling beds for services | Low strength class, maximum aggregate size, volume per pour |
| Structural concrete, sulphate-resisting or blended binder | Piles, pile caps, rafts and basement walls in coastal ground | Strength class, binder type and minimum content, maximum water to cement ratio, exposure class from the durability design |
| Pumpable structural mixes | Columns, cores, slabs and post-tensioned floors on towers | Slump or flow at discharge, maximum aggregate size, setting time for the pour length |
| Self-compacting concrete | Congested reinforcement, architectural faces, thin walls | Slump flow class, viscosity and segregation limits, formwork pressure agreed with the engineer |
| Mass concrete with temperature control | Thick rafts, transfer slabs, bridge foundations | Maximum placing temperature, peak and differential temperature limits, cement replacement level, thermocouple monitoring |
| Fibre-reinforced mixes | Warehouse slabs, shotcrete, crack control | Fibre type and dosage; see steel, synthetic and glass fibre concrete |
Ready-mix competes with two alternatives on some packages. Site batching makes sense only for remote sites far from any plant, and factory-cast precast slabs, walls and utility chambers replace in-situ pours when programme or quality favours off-site work. For boundary walls and villa infill, concrete blocks from local block factories remove the need for most small pours.
How do UAE heat, humidity and ground conditions change a ready-mix order?
In the UAE, the hard part of ready-mix is keeping fresh concrete workable and cool between the plant and the formwork, then protecting the hardened concrete from chlorides and sulphates for the life of the structure. Both are settled in the mix design and the pour plan, before the first truck is booked.
Summer pours and long hauls
ACI PRC-305-20, the American Concrete Institute guide to hot weather concreting, describes how high temperature, low humidity and wind speed up slump loss and setting, and sets out precooling, batching, placing and curing practices. In UAE terms that means the plant chills its mixing water or replaces part of it with flake ice, shades aggregate stockpiles, and doses a retarder so a truck stuck on Sheikh Zayed Road still arrives workable. Many large pours run at night. Ask each supplier how it meets the specified maximum concrete temperature in August, how many minutes from batching to discharge it guarantees, and whether it rejects loads that exceed either limit.
Coastal ground and durability
Reclaimed and coastal plots in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah often have shallow, saline groundwater. Foundations there usually call for sulphate-resisting cement or a binder blended with ground granulated blast furnace slag or fly ash, a low water to cement ratio and generous cover. BS 8500-1, the UK complement to BS EN 206 that many UAE specifications still follow, gives guidance on concrete quality for exposure classes, working life and cover to carbon steel reinforcement. The plant does not choose the exposure class; it comes from the designer, and the mix must be proven against it in trial batches.
Dust, curing and finishing
Shamal winds dry exposed slab surfaces in minutes and carry dust onto prepared joints. Wind breaks, evaporation retarders, prompt wet curing or curing compound, and clean construction joints matter as much as the mix itself, and they are the contractor's job rather than the plant's.
Which standards and approvals apply to ready-mix concrete in the UAE?
Ready-mix in the UAE is controlled through the project specification, the consultant's mix approval and emirate-level plant certification, not a federal product certificate. Ready-mix was not on the MoIAT regulated product sheet when it was checked in October 2026.
| Requirement | What it covers | Authority or owner |
|---|---|---|
| BS EN 206 with BS 8500-1:2023 | Specification, performance, production and conformity of concrete; UK guidance on exposure classes and cover | CEN and BSI; called up by the project specification |
| ASTM C94/C94M | Ready-mixed concrete delivered fresh, used on projects specified to American practice | ASTM International |
| ACI PRC-305-20 | Hot weather mixing, transport, placing and curing | American Concrete Institute, through the specification |
| Ready-mix plant certification | Plant equipment, production control and delivery facilities | Emirate authority (in Dubai, historically Dubai Central Laboratory under Dubai Municipality); confirm the current scheme |
| Mix design approval and trial mixes | Each mix by element, with cement, aggregate and admixture test certificates | Project consultant and, on public work, the client authority |
Dubai Municipality has for years certified ready-mix plants through Dubai Central Laboratory against its own specification for ready-mix plant operation. Certificates found online for 2020 to 2022 had passed their expiry dates, so ask any plant for its current certificate and confirm it with Dubai Municipality before you rely on it, as of 2026. Abu Dhabi and the other emirates run their own approval routes through the consultant and the client authority. Where a project uses a regulated imported ingredient, our guide to ECAS and EQM conformity in the UAE explains the MoIAT process.
How do you choose a ready-mix supplier in the UAE?
Choose the plant first by distance and capacity, then by its record on temperature control and testing. A plant forty minutes away in light traffic can be ninety minutes away at rush hour, which decides whether a summer mix stays inside its limits.
- Plant location and fleet: number of plants near the site, truck mixers and concrete pumps available on the pour date, and a backup plant if one breaks down mid-pour.
- Approved mixes: whether the plant already holds consultant approval for similar mixes, which shortens trial mix time.
- Cooling capacity: chiller and ice plant output, and the record of delivered temperatures in past summers.
- Testing: in-house laboratory, cube or cylinder sampling at site, and use of an accredited third-party laboratory for acceptance tests.
- Cement and admixture sources: a change of cement or admixture brand can mean a new trial mix, so ask what the plant buys and how stable that supply is.
Ready-mix is always bought from the producer; there is no distributor or stockist layer, because the product has a working life of hours. The groups behind global ready-mix operations include Holcim, which produces cement, aggregates and ready-mix and sells the lower-carbon ECOPlanet cement range; Lafarge, now part of the Holcim Group; and Cemex, a Mexican cement, ready-mix and aggregates producer with its Vertua lower-carbon range. Most UAE volume comes from independent local plants listed below. The guide to sourcing suppliers in the UAE and Saudi Arabia covers licence and reference checks, and you can post your ready-mix requirement with grades, volumes, pour dates and the site location to collect comparable offers.
What affects the price and lead time of ready-mix concrete in the UAE?
UAE ready-mix is priced per cubic metre for a named mix, delivered, with extras for pumping, cooling and out-of-hours work. Compare offers only against the same mix schedule and the same delivery terms.
- Grade and binder: higher strength, sulphate-resisting or slag blends, and low water to cement ratios raise binder and admixture content.
- Cooling: ice and chilled water in summer, often charged per cubic metre.
- Haul and access: distance from the plant, waiting time on site, and part loads below a full truck.
- Pumping: boom or line pump hire, set-up and minimum charges.
- Timing: night, Friday and holiday pours.
- Testing and documents: trial mixes, sampling and third-party tests.
Once a mix is approved, most plants deliver at a day or two of notice for routine pours. The real lead time is the approval: trial mixes need time to reach their test age, so book them well before the first structural pour.
