Exhibition and event equipment in Saudi Arabia is the stands, furniture, screens, lighting, staging and power that exhibitors and organisers hire or buy for trade fairs, conferences and public events in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and giga-project sites. This page explains the equipment groups, rent versus buy, what permits and venue rules to confirm as of 2026, and what drives price and delivery.
The other industrial and B2B services sector gathers everything that does not make or move goods but keeps a business running: law, finance, training, furniture, marine supply and printing.
Khobar became the commercial centre of the Eastern Province after the shipping and oil industries moved to Dammam and Ras Tanura. That is why its streets hold the banks, law firms, training centres, furniture showrooms and trading offices that serve industry. The other industrial and B2B services sector is the home for this mix.
Company set-up and legal work come first: company formation, commercial law and import and export licensing for firms that want an Eastern Province base. Finance follows with equipment financing and trade finance. Training providers offer safety training programs for oil company contractors, while the offices themselves buy office furniture and commercial kitchen equipment for camps and catering.
The Gulf is close and Bahrain is a short drive across the King Fahd Causeway, so some buyers need marine equipment or ship chandlery through nearby ports. Banks and consultants in Khobar often advise on Bahrain-linked trade, but check which jurisdiction a contract is governed by before signing.
Check that a service firm holds a Saudi commercial registration and any licence its activity requires, and ask for a written scope with the deliverables and the invoicing schedule. Training that is meant to satisfy a client should be accredited by the body the client names. To collect proposals from several providers, post a requirement.
Many service firms also work in Arabic and English contracts, so confirm which language version governs the agreement. Keep copies of licences, commercial registrations and insurance papers on file for client audits.
Khobar is the commercial and residential core of the Dammam metropolitan area, so most of its business is offices, trading, hospitality, healthcare and services rather than heavy plant. The 2022 census counted 409,549 people in the city and 658,550 in the governorate, and the city sits between Dammam and Dhahran, the headquarters of Saudi Aramco, about twenty minutes from each. Its streets follow a grid, with older markets around Suwaiket Street and shopping malls elsewhere. The two universities nearby, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals and Prince Mohammad bin Fahd University, add engineering and research demand.
Factories are a short drive away. Dammam First Industrial City is reported to hold 124 factories, and Dammam Second Industrial City spreads over about 6,000 acres along Highway 615 with some 120 operating plants and more under construction. The Dhahran to Jubail Expressway leads north to Jubail Industrial City for large petrochemical and heavy industry. Khobar buyers usually order from the estates and have goods delivered into town.
Khobar once served as Aramco's early port, but commercial shipping later moved to King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, which handled about 2.04 million TEU of capacity in 2022, and petroleum exports moved to Ras Tanura. A new waterfront port is described as under construction south of the South Corniche. King Fahd International Airport is roughly 50 km away, reached by the Khobar to Dammam Highway (605). The nearest railway station is in Dammam, on a 449 km line through Abqaiq and Hofuf to Riyadh.
The King Fahd Causeway to Bahrain opened on 25 November 1986 and is about 25 km long. After works completed in June 2020 it reopened for commercial transit traffic, with new gates on the Saudi side. Rules for trucks change, so ask your forwarder for the current customs procedure before you plan a Bahrain leg.
Building and municipal matters fall under Al-Khobar Municipality, one of five municipalities in the Eastern Province Amana, which is headquartered in Dammam and reports to the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing. Factory land and ready units in the industrial cities come through MODON. Private hospitals work with the Ministry of Health, and fire and life safety approvals come from Civil Defense. Customs clearance is handled by ZATCA at the port or border. Check each authority's own platform for the current steps.
Oil and gas contractors and engineering firms keep offices here to be near Aramco. Hospitals, malls, hotels and towers need cooling, security, cleaning and maintenance. The governorate reports eight hospitals with 2,809 beds, and private hospital capacity has kept growing, so medical supply is a steady buyer.
