Is there a steel plant in Jubail?

Yes. SABIC's Hadeed steel operation is based in Jubail Industrial City and is widely reported as one of the region's largest steel producers. Check current product ranges directly with the producer or its distributors.

What steel products are used in Jubail's petrochemical plants?

Carbon and alloy steel pipe, plates, flanges and fittings, stainless steel for corrosive service, and structural sections for racks and platforms. Pressure parts need material test certificates and inspection records.

Why is galvanizing important in Jubail?

The city sits on the Arabian Gulf coast, where humidity and salt accelerate corrosion on exposed steel. Galvanizing and protective coatings extend the life of structures, handrails, cable trays and pipe supports.

Can fabrication shops in Jubail build pressure vessels?

Some can, subject to the codes they are qualified for and client approval. Ask for the code stamp or equivalent qualification, welding procedure records and the third party inspector they use.

Who runs Jubail Industrial City?

The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, established in 1975, develops the city, leases land and sets the rules for investors. It also oversees utilities and services together with Marafiq, so most plant operators deal with it first.

Does Jubail have its own port?

Yes. The Port of Jubail has two harbours under Mawani: King Fahd Industrial Port for plant and bulk cargo, and Jubail Commercial Port for general and container cargo. Many Riyadh-bound containers also clear through the Eastern Province ports.

What do suppliers in Jubail mostly sell?

Demand is driven by petrochemical and refining plants, so valves, pumps, coatings, gases, safety gear and contract maintenance dominate. Plants usually buy under approved vendor lists, which means registration paperwork matters more than a low quote.

Find Carbon Steel Sheets & Coils Suppliers in Jubail

Carbon steel sheets and coils in Saudi Arabia are the hot rolled, cold rolled and galvanised flat products that roll formers, duct makers, panel makers and fabricators convert into roofing, ducting, enclosures and light structures. This page explains the product types and coatings, how SASO steel sheet rules apply as of 2026, who supplies the Kingdom, and what drives price and delivery.

Why is Jubail a metals and fabrication city?

Jubail Industrial City has long been tied to steel and heavy fabrication. Saudipedia describes the city's core as petrochemicals and primary industries, and industry press has long linked the city with SABIC's Hadeed steel operation. Plants of that scale create steady demand for metals and fabrication work: steel products, pipe fittings and flanges, pressure vessel fabrication and structural steel fabrication for plant expansions and maintenance.

What do Jubail buyers specify?

Process plants ask for carbon and alloy steel pipe, stainless steel in corrosive duties, and fabricated spools, tanks and pipe racks built to client codes. Piping spools and pressure parts usually need material test certificates, weld procedures and third party inspection. Hot dip galvanizing and powder coating matter in a coastal, humid climate where corrosion is a daily concern.

Where do suppliers cluster and how do goods arrive?

Stockists, cutting shops and fabrication yards operate inside Jubail Industrial City and in the wider Eastern Province, with heavier workshops also in Dammam. Plate, pipe and sections arrive through the King Fahd Industrial Port, the commercial port, or by road, and the Mawani works reported in November 2023 add a rail link between the two ports. Large pieces such as vessels leave the yard on low bed trailers, so check the route and the escort plan before you agree a delivery date.

Practical tips for buyers:

Ask for mill certificates and the standard each batch meets, and verify them before cutting.
For fabrication, ask which codes the shop is qualified to and which clients have audited it.
Agree who carries transit and coating damage risk.
Confirm that the workshop can enter Royal Commission controlled sites if work is on plant.

You can send a drawing pack to several workshops through post a requirement and compare scope, lead time and inspection terms.

Where is industry located in Jubail?

Jubail is a planned industrial city before it is a town. The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, created in 1975, develops and runs Jubail Industrial City on the Arabian Gulf coast of the Eastern Province. Saudipedia names SABIC as the main owner of the industrial complexes and says 13 of its 16 Saudi production plants stand here, alongside Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Company (SATORP), Advanced Petrochemical Company and Jubail United Petrochemical Company. The older estate is often called Jubail 1. Jubail 2, whose foundation stone was laid in 2004, was planned in stages, with about a quarter of its area reserved for industry and a primary zone for chemicals such as methanol, ethylene oxide and ammonia, according to a 2018 trade report.

The Commission reported that investment across its industrial cities passed SAR 1.5 trillion (about USD 400 billion) by the end of 2025, and Saudipedia says it has set aside SAR 67.5 billion to double the city's area by 2030. Smaller fabricators, workshops and service firms cluster around the main plants, because the big complexes buy maintenance and contract labour continuously.

How does cargo reach Jubail buyers?

The Port of Jubail is two harbours under Mawani, the Saudi Ports Authority. King Fahd Industrial Port, opened to serve the industrial city, handles bulk and plant cargo, and Jubail Commercial Port handles general, container and bulk cargo. Saudi Global Ports, a PIF and PSA International venture, holds a build-operate-transfer contract for multipurpose terminals at four Eastern Province ports including both Jubail harbours. In December 2025 Mawani announced a land lease of more than SAR 500 million to a chemical terminal operator for 70,000 cubic metres of chemical storage at Jubail Commercial Port. Dammam is about 100 km south by road, and trucks and rail carry cargo on to Riyadh.

Which authorities does a buyer or supplier meet in Jubail?

Inside the industrial city, the Royal Commission allocates land, supplies infrastructure and approves investors. Power, water and seawater cooling come from Marafiq, the utility for Jubail and Yanbu. Fire and life safety approvals come from the General Directorate of Civil Defense, medical products need the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, and customs entries are handled by ZATCA. Confirm the current steps with each body before signing.

Which industries buy in Jubail, and why?

Petrochemicals, refining and chemicals buy pumps, valves, instruments, coatings, gases and maintenance services on shutdown calendars. Utilities and the port buy electrical and marine equipment. Construction and housing demand follows the expansion programme.
