Underground mining equipment in Saudi Arabia is the loaders, trucks, drill jumbos, bolters and backfill plant used to open and work mines below the surface. Demand is rising as Ma'aden moves its Mansourah Massarah gold operation from open pit to underground stoping. This page explains machine types, how to size them, SASO and Ex rules and what drives price and delivery.
No. Yanbu has no mining sector of its own in the sources reviewed, so be wary of any claim to the contrary. What it has is a deep water Red Sea port, a Royal Commission industrial area and several plants that consume minerals. The mining, quarrying and minerals opportunity here is on the buying side and in the export chain, not in digging.
The TradeArabia report of June 2026 lists flat glass, titanium dioxide and reinforcing steel plants in the industrial city. Those users take silica sand, industrial minerals, calcium carbonate and bentonite, delivered by truck or sea. Construction around the city draws on crushing and screening plants and aggregate processing equipment, usually supplied from quarries inland. Mine operators elsewhere in the Kingdom also use King Fahd Industrial Port: its deep berths and Red Sea position make it a practical export point for bulk cargo from the western mining belt, so ask the port agent about storage and loading rates before booking.
For equipment aimed at mines in other regions, Yanbu is a loading point; ask whether the supplier ships directly to the mine or to the port, and who clears. For minerals delivered into Yanbu plants, ask for particle size and chemical certificates, since glass and titanium dioxide lines are sensitive to impurities. Bulk cargo uses the port's bulk terminal. Use post a requirement to find suppliers that can deliver to a specific gate.
One more practical point: contractors building new plant roads, tanks and foundations around the industrial city use aggregates, sand and cement raw materials in volume, but sourcing sits with construction suppliers rather than mine operators. If you sell mining equipment or safety gear, the buyers are in other regions, and a Yanbu listing mainly shows a Red Sea shipping option.
Yanbu is three places in one. Yanbu Al-Bahr is the older seafront town where most residents live, Yanbu Al-Nakhal is a separate inland area about 47 km away, and Yanbu Al-Sina'iya in the south holds the industrial city. The industrial city is planned and run by the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, which was established on 21 September 1975 and answers to the Council of Ministers. Its mission is to plan and manage energy-intensive and petrochemical cities, and gas collected from oil operations is meant to feed their plants. In April 2026 Arab News, citing the commission's annual report, put total investment in the Jubail and Yanbu industrial cities above SR1.5 trillion by the end of 2025, and described Yanbu as a refining and downstream processing centre. Wikipedia lists three refineries, a plastics facility and several petrochemical plants in the city.
The expansion known as Yanbu-2 was launched in July 2005 on about 66 square kilometres, with a plan for 34 basic and secondary industries and 224 light industries. Those are 2005 plan figures. On 9 April 2025 Aramco and Sinopec signed a framework agreement to advance engineering studies for a petrochemical expansion at the Yasref refinery, with a 1.8 million tonne a year steam cracker and a 1.5 million tonne aromatics complex. Aramco described it as a study-phase project.
King Fahd Industrial Port is described as the largest port for loading crude oil and petrochemicals on the Red Sea, with terminals for general cargo and containers, bulk cargo and crude oil. The East-West crude pipeline from the Eastern Province ends here. In May 2026 Mawani, a shipping line and SABIC announced the Red Sea Express container service linking the port with Ain Sokhna in Egypt and Aqaba in Jordan, at up to 1,100 TEU. In December 2025 Mawani signed a SAR 29 million logistics agreement with a logistics company for a 120,500 square metre cargo and storage site at a Yanbu port. The airport has domestic flights to Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam. Medina lies roughly 160 km east by road, so inland deliveries often route through it.
Inside the industrial city, the Royal Commission handles land, utilities and investor services. Port matters go through Mawani and the port operator, customs through ZATCA, and building permits through the municipality. Fire and life safety approvals come from the General Directorate of Civil Defense, and medical products need Saudi Food and Drug Authority authorisation. Confirm the current steps with each body before you commit to a delivery date.
Refining, petrochemicals and port operations buy valves, pumps, coatings, gases, instrumentation and safety gear. Contractors follow plant shutdowns, and about 332,000 residents (2022 census) support housing, clinics and food supply.
