The nearest railway station is in Dammam, on a 449 km line through Abqaiq and Hofuf to Riyadh.
The King Fahd Causeway to Bahrain opened on 25 November 1986 and is about 25 km long. After works completed in June 2020 it reopened for commercial transit traffic, with new gates on the Saudi side.
