Who runs Jubail Industrial City?

The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, established in 1975, develops the city, leases land and sets the rules for investors. It also oversees utilities and services together with Marafiq, so most plant operators deal with it first.

Does Jubail have its own port?

Yes. The Port of Jubail has two harbours under Mawani: King Fahd Industrial Port for plant and bulk cargo, and Jubail Commercial Port for general and container cargo. Many Riyadh-bound containers also clear through the Eastern Province ports.

What do suppliers in Jubail mostly sell?

Demand is driven by petrochemical and refining plants, so valves, pumps, coatings, gases, safety gear and contract maintenance dominate. Plants usually buy under approved vendor lists, which means registration paperwork matters more than a low quote.

Q: Is it better to buy original or equivalent parts?

Original parts carry the manufacturer warranty and are usually required for critical equipment. Equivalents suit non-critical items if the supplier gives dimensions, material grades and a written warranty.

Hydraulics and pneumatics in Saudi Arabia are the oil and compressed air systems that drive mining fleets, cranes, presses, packaging lines and process valve actuators. This page lists Saudi fluid power suppliers and explains when to use hydraulics or pneumatics, how desert heat, sand and coastal humidity affect each, the ISO 4413, ISO 4414 and ISO 8573-1 standards, SASO oil rules and SABER, and price drivers.

What drives industrial equipment and MRO buying in Jubail?

Jubail runs on rotating equipment. The petrochemical, refining and utility plants of Jubail Industrial City operate continuously, so industrial equipment and MRO supplies are bought daily, not once a year. Most buyers sit inside the Royal Commission's estates, in Jubail 1 and the newer Jubail 2, where SABIC affiliates, SATORP and their contractors keep warehouses of spares. Planned shutdowns create the biggest surges: a plant stops a unit, and for a few weeks every gasket, stud and bearing in the maintenance scope is needed at once.

Which MRO categories matter most in Jubail?

Process plants lean on industrial valves, centrifugal pumps, seals and gaskets and valve actuators. Rotating machinery adds bearings and industrial air compressors. Fasteners for flanged joints are bought in volume, so see the pipe fittings and flanges guide and the valve selection guide before you write a specification.

How do approved vendor lists work for Jubail plants?

Large Jubail operators normally buy only from registered vendors, and items for hydrocarbon service often must match a stated standard and material grade. A new supplier should be ready with brand authorisation letters, test certificates, a company profile and references from other Eastern Province plants. Regulated items also need conformity paperwork under SABER, explained in the SASO and SABER guide.

Practical sourcing tips

Goods arrive through King Fahd Industrial Port, Jubail Commercial Port or Dammam, or by road from Riyadh stockists, and a few days of delay at the port can idle a shutdown crew, so ask for a firm delivery date with the quotation. Stock holders near the industrial city can supply emergency parts faster than an importer, even at a higher price. Seawater air is salty, so ask for corrosion-resistant coatings and stainless fasteners on outdoor equipment near the coast. Keep a register of part numbers per machine, and ask for original and approved-equivalent offers side by side. To compare quotes on one bill of materials, post a requirement.

Where is industry located in Jubail?

Jubail is a planned industrial city before it is a town. The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, created in 1975, develops and runs Jubail Industrial City on the Arabian Gulf coast of the Eastern Province. Saudipedia names SABIC as the main owner of the industrial complexes and says 13 of its 16 Saudi production plants stand here, alongside Saudi Aramco Total Refining and Petrochemical Company (SATORP), Advanced Petrochemical Company and Jubail United Petrochemical Company. The older estate is often called Jubail 1. Jubail 2, whose foundation stone was laid in 2004, was planned in stages, with about a quarter of its area reserved for industry and a primary zone for chemicals such as methanol, ethylene oxide and ammonia, according to a 2018 trade report.

The Commission reported that investment across its industrial cities passed SAR 1.5 trillion (about USD 400 billion) by the end of 2025, and Saudipedia says it has set aside SAR 67.5 billion to double the city's area by 2030. Smaller fabricators, workshops and service firms cluster around the main plants, because the big complexes buy maintenance and contract labour continuously.

How does cargo reach Jubail buyers?

The Port of Jubail is two harbours under Mawani, the Saudi Ports Authority. King Fahd Industrial Port, opened to serve the industrial city, handles bulk and plant cargo, and Jubail Commercial Port handles general, container and bulk cargo. Saudi Global Ports, a PIF and PSA International venture, holds a build-operate-transfer contract for multipurpose terminals at four Eastern Province ports including both Jubail harbours. In December 2025 Mawani announced a land lease of more than SAR 500 million to a chemical terminal operator for 70,000 cubic metres of chemical storage at Jubail Commercial Port. Dammam is about 100 km south by road, and trucks and rail carry cargo on to Riyadh.

Which authorities does a buyer or supplier meet in Jubail?

Inside the industrial city, the Royal Commission allocates land, supplies infrastructure and approves investors. Power, water and seawater cooling come from Marafiq, the utility for Jubail and Yanbu. Fire and life safety approvals come from the General Directorate of Civil Defense, medical products need the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, and customs entries are handled by ZATCA. Confirm the current steps with each body before signing.

Which industries buy in Jubail, and why?

Petrochemicals, refining and chemicals buy pumps, valves, instruments, coatings, gases and maintenance services on shutdown calendars. Utilities and the port buy electrical and marine equipment. Construction and housing demand follows the expansion programme.

Frequently Asked Questions — Hydraulics & Pneumatics in Jubail

Where can I buy valves and pumps quickly in Jubail?

Stockists and workshops around the industrial city hold common sizes and can repair pumps on site. For special alloys or large sizes, expect an import lead time, so confirm the delivery date in writing before you place the order.

What documents do Jubail plants ask from MRO suppliers?

Typically a commercial registration, manufacturer authorisation, material and test certificates, and references. Many plants also require registration on their own vendor system before they will accept a purchase order.

Why do plants in Jubail ask about corrosion protection?

The city sits on the Gulf coast, and humid salty air attacks carbon steel and untreated fasteners. Specifying coated, galvanised or stainless parts for exposed equipment extends the interval between replacements.
