Ductile iron pipes are centrifugally cast from iron alloyed with magnesium to produce a spheroidal graphite microstructure that provides high tensile strength, ductility, and impact resistance. Pipes are manufactured per BS EN 545 or ISO 2531 in diameters from 80mm to 2000mm, with internal cement mortar lining for corrosion protection and external zinc-aluminium coating with finishing layer. Push-fit (Tyton) rubber ring joints are standard, allowing angular deflection and easy installation.
In the UAE and Saudi Arabia, ductile iron pipes are the standard material for potable water transmission mains (300mm diameter and above), water distribution networks, sewage force mains, fire hydrant ring mains, and industrial cooling water circuits.
