Animal husbandry equipment in Saudi Arabia covers the milking systems, poultry houses, hatcheries, feed mills, shed cooling and veterinary products bought by the Kingdom's dairy, poultry, camel and sheep producers. This page lists Saudi suppliers and sets out the SASO machinery rules on SABER, SFDA feed and veterinary registration, and what drives cost and lead time.

Animal husbandry equipment means the housing, feeding, milking, hatching and cooling systems and the animal health products that livestock farms run on. In Saudi Arabia demand comes from large integrated dairy and poultry producers, broiler and layer farms supplying the main cities, hatcheries, feed mills, camel farms and a large base of sheep and goat holdings. ListGCC groups the family under the agriculture and agri-equipment sector for Saudi Arabia, which covers the national programmes behind the sector.
The scale of Saudi dairying shapes the market. Saudipedia records that one integrated producer, Almarai, owns seven dairy farms holding 179,000 Holstein cows, all run in desert heat. Farms of that size buy rotary parlours, large cooling systems and feed preparation lines; smaller farms buy the same product types at a smaller scale, often through the same distributors.
| Type | Where it is used in Saudi Arabia | What to specify |
|---|---|---|
| Dairy farm equipment and milking systems | Holstein dairies, camel dairies and goat milk producers | Rotary or parallel parlour, stalls, milk meters, bulk tank and pre-cooler, cleaning-in-place, shed fans and soakers |
| Poultry housing and equipment | Broiler and layer farms feeding Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and other cities | House count and size, cage or floor system, feeder and drinker lines, tunnel ventilation, pads, climate controller |
| Hatchery setters, hatchers and egg handling | Breeder farms and hatcheries supplying day-old chicks | Egg capacity, single-stage or multi-stage, temperature, humidity and carbon dioxide control, chick handling and vaccination |
| Feed mills, mixers and pellet lines | Commercial feed mills and on-farm ration mixing | Throughput in tonnes per hour, grinding, mixing accuracy, pelleting and cooling, dust and explosion protection |
| Veterinary medicines, vaccines and supplements | Disease prevention and treatment across herds and flocks | SFDA registration, cold chain, withdrawal periods, dosing method |
Livestock projects in the Kingdom also pull in neighbouring categories: irrigation systems for fodder crops, farm machinery such as balers and mixer wagons, and agri-inputs including feed ingredients.
In Saudi Arabia, size the cooling and ventilation first and the production equipment second, because heat stress cuts milk yield, growth and egg output long before any machine fails. Then specify for dust, hard water and the distance to the nearest service engineer.
Farms in the central region around Riyadh and Al Kharj and in the north see very hot, dry summers, where evaporative pads, misters and soakers work well. Farms near Jeddah, Jazan or Dammam meet humid air, and Mississippi State University Extension notes that evaporative pads give little benefit once relative humidity nears 80 percent. Coastal sites therefore lean more on air speed, shade and shed design. Ask any supplier for measured shed temperatures and humidity from its installations on Saudi farms, not only brochure figures.
Poultry houses in the Kingdom are mostly closed and tunnel ventilated. Wind-chill from air speed does the main work and pads supplement it, so compare quotes on total fan airflow and air speed in the house. Insist on a climate controller with alarms, automatic generator changeover and a manual fallback for inlets.
Sand and fine dust block pads, fan guards and motor fins, and mineral-heavy well water scales nozzles and drinker valves, so include filtration and water treatment in the scope. Many farms sit hours from a city, which makes the supplier's stock of spares and the travel time of its technicians part of the specification.
Saudi Arabia regulates both the machinery and what goes into the animal. SASO's general machinery safety regulation lists milking machines, dairy machinery, poultry incubators and brooders among its products, so they need SABER certificates, while the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) registers feed and veterinary products. The table reflects documents we read in October 2026.
| Requirement | Applies to | Authority |
|---|---|---|
| Technical Regulation for General Requirements for Machinery Safety, approved 28 December 2023 and published 29 March 2024; its product list includes HS 8434 (milking machines and dairy machinery) and HS 8436 (other agricultural and poultry-keeping machinery, including poultry incubators and brooders) | Milking parlours, dairy equipment, poultry and hatchery machinery placed on the Saudi market | Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), through notified bodies on SABER |
| Product certificate for each model and shipment certificate for each consignment | Regulated machinery at import | SASO, via the SABER platform |
| Licensing of feed importers and feed establishments in the National Feed Registration System (AFNR), with standards such as GSO 1923 for dairy cattle feed | Imported compound feed, premixes and feed additives | SFDA, with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) testing plant-based feed for agricultural quarantine |
| Registration of veterinary products and of the companies that make them; no import, marketing or circulation of an unregistered product | Veterinary medicines, vaccines and related products | SFDA, under the GCC veterinary products law published on its site (2015 translation) |
SASO and SFDA both state that the Arabic text of their documents prevails over English translations, so check the Arabic where wording matters. Our guide to SASO and SABER certificates for industrial equipment explains how product and shipment certificates are issued and what to ask the exporter for.
Most livestock systems in the Kingdom are supplied by Saudi agents of foreign manufacturers, who design the layout, hold the SABER certificates, install and keep spares. Large integrated producers sometimes buy direct and run their own engineering, but most farms rely on the agent.
An authorised agent is the safest route for parlours, hatcheries and poultry houses: it carries the conformity paperwork, the warranty and trained technicians. Independent importers can be cheaper on standard items but check that each model has its own SABER product certificate. Stockists supply liners, pads, nipples, fan parts and disinfectants from warehouses in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.
For animal health, Intas, an Indian maker of veterinary antibiotics, mastitis treatments and livestock boluses, and Cenavisa, a Spanish producer of veterinary injectables and oral supplements for poultry and ruminants, are carried in this family. In Saudi Arabia ask the distributor for the SFDA registration of the exact product and pack size.
Buyers who want comparable offers can post a requirement with herd or flock size and location.
Cost depends on capacity, automation and how much of the building, cooling and installation the supplier includes; lead time depends on factory slots, SABER certification and shipping into King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam or Jeddah Islamic Port.
Plan large projects so the system is commissioned before the hottest months, and keep a stock of the parts that fail most often in summer: fan belts, motors, pad pumps and controller sensors.
