Hydrogen Suppliers, Saudi Arabia
Covers industrial hydrogen supplied in high-pressure tube trailers, cylinders, and on-site generation for refinery hydroprocessing, petrochemical manufacturing, electronics, and the emerging clean energy sector in the GCC. Procurement managers source hydrogen from steam methane reformers, electrolysis facilities, and by-product recovery plants. Saudi Arabia and the UAE are positioning as global leaders in green and blue hydrogen production.

Industrial hydrogen is used in petroleum refining (hydrocracking, hydrodesulphurisation), ammonia and methanol synthesis, metallurgical heat treatment, electronics manufacturing, float glass production, and as a fuel in emerging clean energy applications. Supply formats include compressed gas in cylinders and tube trailers (200-500 bar), liquid hydrogen for specialized applications, and on-site generation via steam methane reforming (SMR), electrolysis, or methanol cracking. Purity requirements range from 99.9% for fuel applications to 99.9999% for semiconductor manufacturing.
The UAE and Saudi Arabia consume large volumes of hydrogen in their extensive refining operations and are simultaneously investing heavily in hydrogen as a clean energy vector. NEOM's green hydrogen project, the world's largest, will produce green hydrogen from solar and wind power for export as ammonia. ADNOC is developing blue hydrogen capacity with carbon capture. These mega-projects are positioning the GCC as a global hydrogen production and export hub. Meanwhile, industrial hydrogen demand continues growing with refinery expansions and new petrochemical projects.
When procuring hydrogen, specify purity grade, pressure, flow rate, and delivery format. For refinery and petrochemical applications, on-site SMR or supply-over-the-fence from a dedicated hydrogen plant is typical for large volumes. For smaller industrial users, tube trailer delivery or on-site electrolysis may be appropriate. Evaluate suppliers on their safety record, delivery logistics for high-pressure gas, and ability to provide continuous supply guarantees. Hydrogen's wide flammability range and low ignition energy demand rigorous safety management throughout the supply chain.
